    Improv can yield great results, but once the series really got into it’s own groove and started to write full scripts it served them very well.

  22. Well yeah, Brendon Small created the show with Loren Bouchard (playing Josie, his little sister). Paula Poundstone played “Paula” for the first few episodes, and a Melissa played “Melissa”, Mitch Hedberg played “Mitch”….basically an early running gag was to make the characters named after the people who played them, because early episodes were almost pure improv and they didn’t want to make it confusing.
